Web Client won't play

Hi,

I have started to use MB3 recently and it is an awesome software, thank you very much, but I am experiencing a few problems.

So, first, I'm using Server Version 3.0.5192.19560 and that "active devices" is classifying Dashboard 3.0.5192.19560 in Chrome 33.0.1750.154.

The problem is mostly with the web client. The principal is that on some videos (almost one out of two), I try to play them but the video player never opens and the play button just stays blue, you can see in screenshot. After that I have to refresh the page because i I select any other submenu, it just doesn't load. Sometimes the video player starts, it loads indefinitely.

I was wondering from where does the problem comes? Is it the web player, the codecs on my computer (I have Klite codec pack installed and can play any of these videos from wmp) or anything else? And weird thing is that some of these videos will start in the windows8.1 app on my tablet connected by local network, but some other won't, as in the web client.

Since there is no actual crash, I didn't think that providing a log file would be useful, I mostly wanted to know from where is the most probable problem.

Thank you for any answer.

Click on the edit button and do a force refresh it looks like that item doesn't have any media info which may be what is preventing playback.

Ok, seems to work, thanks, is there a way to refresh all of my files, because a lot of them have that problem.

Also, now that the video player starts, it is awfully long before the actual video starts, any idea? I'm storing my videos on an external usb hard drive, could that be the problem for slow reading maybe?

If you refresh a parent folder in the metadata interface mb3 always used refresh children..its the pencil icon.

Speed to start video is based on disc performance but possibly cpu performance moreso in instances where mb3 is transcoding video, especially if you dont have a fast cpu. The server settings have a section to balance quality and speed of transcoding.

Until recently, it worked without any mediainfo. Now, absolutely such behavior described by topic starter, is observed with iTunes trailers and LiveTV (yes, it happens again (( ). The reason, I believe, one - the recent changes in the web player itself.
