Using Emby DLNA on FetchTV

Recommended Posts

I am trying to utilise the DLNA feature of my Fetch box to play movies on my TV and whilst Fetch can detect my Emby DLNA server, when I try and list my movie collection, it tells me I have 422 movies.  Opening the folder gives me a single movie and that's it.  Just one movie.

I tried creating a new DLNA profile for FetchTV but that hasn't seem to have helped.

Am I missing something here?  I have read mixed reports about the DLNA capabilities of the FetchTV, but I would feel that is should at least list more than one movie.  I can't even begin testing playback as I can't even see my movie collection yet.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks

If i had to guess, FetchTV might be ignoring media that it doesn't support. Have you researched the supported media formats of the Fetch box?

I have taken a look at the specs and it claims to support MKV although I have read some reviews where users are debating this feature.

However, the only movie that appears to be listed on the FetchTV is the very first movie in my collection.  It's like it can only list one movie before timing out maybe.  That's what makes me think I have settings incorrect or something.

Is there any logs that track the DLNA requests, so I can see what is going on?

If you enable dlna debug logging under the server's dlna settings, then it will dump the contents of the dlna responses into the log. you'll probably also need to enable general debug logging under Logs and then restart the server.

Most likely there is something in the response that the FetchTV doesn't like. The challenge is that you're probably not going to find an error anywhere. It's probably just seeing something that it doesn't like and then ignoring it.

Thanks Luke.  I'll see if I can find anything and report it back here.

I have noticed that if I open a smaller container (recently added for example), then the contents are listed fine.  However, trying to open the movies container of 400+ items simply just shows a single entry.

I'll play around with it and see if I can work anything out.  It would be nice to have Emby play through the Fetch until such time I update my TV to a smart solution and can run an embeded Emby app.

Thanks for your time.

Turning on logging gave me the following result:

I have setup a FetchTV profile but it still seems to not find a matching profile and defaults to generic.

The other interesting thing is that the same 15 movies get picked up in each request , but the 1 movie that actually shows up on the Fetch is 2 Guns which doesn't appear in the request at all.  There are over 400 movies in this same location.

Does this log look right?  Is it more a Fetch issue?

192.168.1.99 is the address of my NAS where 10.5.1.8 is the address of my Fetch.  I have port forwarding rules in place to direct traffic accordingly.

You'll need to setup identification criteria in the custom profile so that it can be detected. did you do that?

I thought I did. I just used the details from the device properties.

I'm not sure how much detail I need to specify in order for Emby to pick up the device.  At the moment I have removed everything but the manufacturer URL as Emby states it only requires one property.  It would be nice if Emby could detect the device by MAC address.

But I have also added model details and serial numbers and it still wasn't detected.

Well the dlna profile editor needs a revamp, rather, it needs to be completed. but if you are browsing from the fetch tv, then you will need to also enter identification criteria that uses the http headers.
