Scootertrash65 1 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 My Emby Server is installed on a Win 7 Ultimate machine using a six core 4 GHz processor, 16 gig ram, and 7 terabytes of HD space. Win 7 is always up to date. Short term power loss is common this time of year in my region. At each power loss, or a shutdown (shutdowns are rare as this is my Emby Server), the server will not restart, it must be reinstalled. When double clicking the Sever icon on my desktop, the web page does come up with the error, Connection refused. When double clicking the Emby for WMC icon, Emby asks which server to connect to. When selecting my server, the If you do not have a server you can connect to one through 'Connect'. Opening Admin tools\Servces and trying to start the Emby service It errors out with a 'File not found' error. Checking the properties of the Emby Service, and going to the folder specified, the file does not exist. This specific incident happened when Emby was not in active use, just sitting there running waiting to be called on. After re-install, Emby works again, however the file called in Services for Emby ("C:\Users\Larry\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe" -service) still does not exist. I have attached logs and other data.
Luke 42087 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hi, you can remove that obsolete windows services entry. Are you wanting to run Emby as a windows service? Or are you fine with just running it as an application?
Scootertrash65 1 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) Both. It is my server for my Firesticks (3), and my Emby app for the front room TV (hardwired), and laptop using the wi-fi lan. I normally usee the Firestick app for the front room, however sometimes it chokes on a movie and I have to resort to the app on the computer/server. Edited July 20, 2018 by Scootertrash65
Solution Luke 42087 Posted July 20, 2018 Solution Posted July 20, 2018 Ok I meant just in regards to how you want to run the server application itself. Do you actually care about it being a Windows service? If you don't know what this means then I would suggest running emby server from the windows start menu. From there you'll find an option to run at startup in the advanced section. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks. 1
Scootertrash65 1 Posted July 21, 2018 Author Posted July 21, 2018 Not sure how to get the Sever in my Start menu, however, in the Dashboard there is an option to start the Server at Startup. I checked the box and saved the settings.
Luke 42087 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Not sure how to get the Sever in my Start menu The installer sets this up, although you won't see the shortcut if you log into windows with a different windows user than the one who installed it. Are you all set now?
Scootertrash65 1 Posted July 21, 2018 Author Posted July 21, 2018 Just shut down and rebooted. Success!! Thank you
