graphixillusion 0 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 As i already reported in the github page, i have many problems with chromecast streaming. During playback the stream stucks very often and the only way to make it works again is to stop the stream, disconnect the app, make the chromecast stream again and restart the playback: at this time the movie will starts from the beginning and not from the last point. The logs files are in the zip attacched to this post. Thank you! emby-logs.zip
Luke 42078 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 We're going to have a 3.5.1 release. Please try that. Thanks.
graphixillusion 0 Posted July 22, 2018 Author Posted July 22, 2018 Ok, i will try the new version and i will report it backs. Thank you.
Guest Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Taking advantage of this topic on issues with chromecast and with this news that version 3.5.1 will be released, it will not be possible to also pay attention to the problem that prevents the emby application from displaying subtitles of .strm files using chromecast ????Thank you

Eddie 12 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) I have been streaming using a 2nd gen chromecast for over a couple years using all the different versions of emby and it works GREAT apart from a bug that happens if my device disconnects from the wifi network while still streaming my chromecast will continue playing the video fine but i have to restart it to stream another video If you have problems streaming the few quick easy things to think about are First thing first.. take wifi out of the equation... can you stream to your hardwired computer without any issues?... if you can then its most likley a wifi issue If streaming to your computer is good then its most likely wifi related... How strong is your wifi connection... Are there any competing wifi connections in your frequency of 2.4 or 5 are they using the same channels you can sniff your wifi using android device and a wifi sniffer Here is a good way to test your wifi.. Try streaming netflix or some other video that is not using emby... if it streams great then your wifi should not be the issue.. and if you are 100% sure your wifi is working fine then just nuke and pave the system... it has fixed a lot of things for me in the past. The amount of time you will spend trying to trouble shoot a problem may just be fixed with a quick nuke and pave hope that helped. Edited July 29, 2018 by Eddie
Bert 49 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 You could also run Speedcast to see what your Chromecast is pulling. 1
graphixillusion 0 Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) Thanks to all for the advices. I have 2nd gen chromecast too and i usually haven't any problem in streaming (via wifi). With speedcast i can reach about 15mbit of speed, that's why i have set 1080p 4mbit for the playback option under emby. I don't think that the problem is the wifi becouse i can see movies without problems but with some other movies i have playback issues. I think the problems rely around ffmpeg which stops during transcoding process. p.s. for the speedcast test, i tried Free Internet Speed for Chromecast - Speedcast from Cast Tools but after the test it freeze the chromecast and makes it restart, don't know why... Eddie 12 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) I remember a couple years ago i had a weird bug where certain movies wouldnt play and i couldnt figure out why even talked to the devs and we werent able to figure out the problem... i nuked and paved the systems and viola everything worked.... if you have wierd bugs just nuke and pave and it has solved a lot of my problems... unless the devs can figure out what might be your specific problem. @@Bert did not know about speed cast.. ty for the suggestion Edited July 29, 2018 by Eddie
graphixillusion 0 Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 I'm using portable version: i already deleted and reinstalled many times but the problems still persists.
Luke 42078 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 We're going to have a 3.5.2 release to resolve a playback issue on Xbox One. There's a chance it may affect this so please try that once available. Thanks. 2
graphixillusion 0 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 I'm trying the new version plus i'm testing a new wifi setup. I will report back in time as i want to try several movies before say that everything is fine. Thank you very much for the support!
graphixillusion 0 Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 I want to report that after 4 different streams everything seems going good. I will keep trying it and report it back if something will goes wrong. Thank you!

Please see how to report a media playback issue: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks ! @Luke Chromecast does not display subtitles with .strm files and .srt subtitles with direct playback, please help me solve this. I have attached the log, caption and file. The problem is only in the chromecast, in the scenario I explained above. Chromecast não exibe legendas com arquivos .strm e legendas .srt com reprodução direta, por favor me ajudem a resolver isso. Anexei o log, legenda e arquivo. O problema esta somente no chromecast, no cenario que expliquei acima. Log.txt Maiara e Maraisa Voce Faz Falta Aqui.srt Maiara e Maraisa Voce Faz Falta Aqui.strm.txt

SamES 1057 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I've update my post. There is no problem with the file, Luke will understand my comment and know the correct solution. It will DirectPlay, I can confirm that once the issue is fixed 1
