thor2105 8 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm looking for some advice. Since the last server update, I am no longer able to play any movies (mkv) on my Sony Bravia TV (KD-A8F). Prior to the update, everything was working fine. If I start any movie, it runs for about 45 seconds and then stops/freezes. Every movies stops after exactly the same amount of time. If I install one of my backups from last week containing the pervious version of the server, it works correctly again. If I apply the update, the problem returns. I've tries uninstalling the previous version and doing a clean install of the new version, but get the same problem. Any advice would be appreciated. (I've only just purchased the app on the Sony TV, as the trial period ran out a few days ago. Not having much luck with it at the moment. (I'm not sure if this question has been posted in the correct section or if it should be in the DLNA section.) Edited July 20, 2018 by thor2105
Luke 42080 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log (and ffmpeg log, if there was one). You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Additionally if you have comparison files from the older version that would be very helpful as well. Thanks !
ebr 16185 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hi. Which app are you using? The one from Google Play (Android TV) or the Smart TV app (Theater)?
TylerV76 84 Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Ive ran into this issue since 3.5.0 also. If the playback bitrate is set to auto the video freezes after about 35 seconds. If the bitrate is set to a max of 20 everything plays fine. Ive gone back to 3.4.1 and everything plays perfect with the bitrate on auto. Usually its running at 30mbps when using auto. Happens on my fire tv's. Unfortunately I don't have logs at the moment as Ive reverted back to the previous version.
thor2105 8 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 I've been away for a few days. I'm using the app from Google Play (Android TV). Also, I've tried the new version that came out (3.5.1) but it has the same problem with all mkv files. They all stop after the same amount of time, about 45 seconds (I haven't times it exactly). Version 3.4.1 works fine. Unfortunately, I reinstalled my backup before I saw the request for the log files so if I get time on next weekend I'll install version 3.5.1 again and save the log files.
thor2105 8 Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 I think I may have spoken to soon about not having issues with version 3.4.1 I'm also having audio sync problems with the mkv files on the new Sony Bravia TV. I've started another thread for this issue.
Luke 42080 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I would try lowering the in app quality setting as it sounds like the bitrate might just be too high.
