i can't double click to go to the full screen anymore

It was getting a number of complaints so I removed it. There are already built in ways in the browser to toggle full screen. Please just use those. Thanks.

In most cases, F11 will toggle full screen in browsers.

On android you can 'add to homescreen' in chrome then the web app will be fullscreen when opened with that button.

Yup exactly, thanks.

no way to just add it as a setting? it's nice with a touchscreen laptop

An explicit button is probably a better idea than something people will just fall into accidentally.

sure but for touch screen devices, an explicit button requires 3 taps, the first to show the controls (this pauses the video) a second to click the full screen button and a third to unpause the video. rather annoying.

but i am also aware of the problem as the double click used to go to fullscreen anytime you clicked not just when video is playing. i am asking if there is a possible middle ground.

On a touch device, I think the best middle ground is bookmarking to your home screen and turning it into an app.

The reason being because the double click method was too easy to accidentally invoke, but even if we wanted to do a button the question is where would we put it. We're kind of out of room as it is. The one place that does currently have a button though is the video player.

can i make it an app on windows? i have a surface. yeah i only care about the double click in the video player. not asking for a button everywhere. i know the video player has a button but as i said the 3 taps is a pain.

I'm also on a Surface and running the apps or Theater is a huge battery drain so I went back to the web version. Without a keyboard, it's really difficult getting in and out of fullscreen. Making a desktop shortcut won't make it go to fullscreen, it still has the Windows start menu row and the application bar at the top. Why can't you just make this a setting for the rest of us that want to have that feature?

@@Luke, you just ruined Emby for me. Thanks.

We can find a way to work in a full screen button. Then it will be obvious for everyone. Thanks guys.

hey, i think there is a little bit of a miscommunication here. It is only a problem really when you are playing stuff. I personally don't care if i can make my emby homepage full screen or not. the problem is that when playing media, even though there is a button, it takes me three taps to enter and exit full screen while previously it was just a matter of a simple double tap. adding a button to the emby homepage is not going to solve that and will probably just clutter up the nice clean interface.

Maybe what we could do is limit the double click to the header area

and have it work everywhere in the window when playing stuff?

btw, is there a way to get the functionality back with a custom css script?

No.

The quick and easy change I can make right now would be header only.

can you instead make it an option to revert to how it was before? and have it off by default?

I would like to find a solution that doesn't require a setting. Can we collaborae on that?

I was wondering what was going on. To bad like being able just click the screen .

I think limiting the double click to the header is a workable compromise.

Sure, you are the boss. but i also understand that there are a lot of things on your list of todos. my personal preference would be the get a fix in for this situation earlier that later so i am kinda leaning towards whatever would be easiest for you to do.

But on a more specific not, i and i am sure other use emby as a browser/player when using it on a pc. i access it via chrome as it doesn't require any additional installs/windows etc and it's nice a zippy.

so in that regard, the full screen state of the home screen is not really the primary user interaction issue. My primary concern is that easy of toggling a playing video to fullscreen. and when it comes to basically any video player or embedded video in the browser, the standard is that a double click/double tap is the shortcut for it. it's a simple and unobtrusive way.

yes the header is a good compromise for the home screen and it will make navigation easier if i am working on other stuff with emby open but the primary issue lies in the point that the emby video player is deviating from the accepted practice when it comes user interactions and causing a disconnect.

thanks for all your hard work.
