Disable audio passthrough?

I'm a Plex user and I'm looking to migrate my library to Emby. So far I'm pleased with it, but I'm having a few issues. Here's the make-or-break issue:

Is there any way to downmix videos to simple two-speaker stereo in Emby?

In both Plex and Emby, videos containing surround audio (such as AC3) are sent to my Chromecast with audio passthrough. This means that both require me to adjust the audio using my TV remote, and the built-in audio control is non-functioning. (In Plex, the Chromecast displays "Surround sound enabled. To adjust volume, use your TV's remote." In Emby, there is no message.)

This is a huge problem for me because my Vizio model has a history of IR sensor failure, so the remote doesn't function. Because of this I need to constantly get up and adjust the volume manually since the audio isn't mixed for the built-in stereo speakers. (I don't have surround speakers and it's disabled in the TV's menu, but both Plex and Emby still use passthrough audio.)

Plex devs have stated that they have no interest in implementing this feature, and it is the main issue that will drive me away. If Emby can do it, you've got my business!

Hi, yes I think this is something we could add a setting for.

Wow, that's an insanely fast response time (and unusually positive!) compared to the Plex forum! Thank you!

How long might it take for your devs to decide if it's something you can do, and how would I find out when or if it gets implemented?

In the meantime I'll continue playing around with Emby!

I can't really give an ETA about when it would be done, but I would like to break out a separate Chromecast settings config screen and move everything Chromecast related into there, while also introducing a few new ones such as this. Thanks.
