Having a weird issue with episode images in the web client, easier to explain with a couple of screenshots. So attached one at the season level with episodes displaying poster images, and second is the episode view.

Has been like this for a while, wasn't overly concerned as Media Browser Classic and Media Browser Theatre both display the expected episode thumbnail, but starting to get annoying when all other images look so good.

Cant find a setting that would cause this, tried deleting the cache and images no good. If anyone has any ideas fire them up.

Running Version 3.0.5192.19560.

Just checked MBT and its showing the posterised episode thumbnails  :(

Yep, latest release (3.0.5192.19560.) can not detect episode images therefore displaying thumb image instead.

Experiencing this too.

Here is my folder structure for images:

Series\Season XX\metadata\YY - Episode Name.xml

Series\Season XX\metadata\ZZZZZZ.image

inside  episode xml:

  <filename>episodes/WWWWWW/ZZZZZZ.jpg</filename>

WWWWW is the series id btw

Also, If you delete the thumb image, it will blank for the episode image.

Cheers

That looks different and you'll need to provide a concrete example without x'ing everything out.

I was already changing it while you posted @@Luke, check again please

this also applies to MBT, since the server is the one that fails to detect this structure

Even more concrete:

<Item>
  <id>3254641</id>
....
  <filename>episodes/121361/3254641.jpg</filename>
  <lastupdated>1363161288</lastupdated>
  <seasonid>364731</seasonid>
  <seriesid>121361</seriesid>
  <LockData>False</LockData>
</Item>

and the file is Series\Season XX\metadata\3254641.jpg

we've never supported this

episodes/121361/

where is that coming from?

metabrowser saves like that, you have always been supporting this, this got broken very recently. All my metadata is like that.

I also checked my backup External HDD incase something changed my metadata recently, and no, same structure, backup is 3 months old.

lolwut, think we have different issues (?)

I was using MetaBrowser, changed completely to MediaBrowser Server some months ago, deleted all images and metadata files and re-scanned with MBS.

My folder structure is:

.....\TV Series\Almost Human\Season 01\Almost Human - S01E01 - Pilot.mkv

.....\TV Series\Almost Human\Season 01\metadata\Almost Human - S01E01 - Pilot.jpg

.....\TV Series\Almost Human\Season 01\metadata\Almost Human - S01E01 - Pilot.xml

Standard structure from what I can tell.

Hey,

I had to reinstall MBS (had to format laptop, couldnt recover:( ) but episode images back after reinstall and still the same data structure:)

So it still can be the same problem, since it may not be originating from data structure.

But now I have no idea what caused it, and I dont have the old log files:(.

Anyway good luck with it :)

Cheers

I reproduced the problem again. I think it is related to files going offline longer than a certain period (or multiple scans).

I have my library on external harddisk and I had to to work without it for a week where MBS running on the background.

Now, all the episode images are gone. I have not installed a newer version of server for 3 weeks I guess.

I found out how my episode images where displaying as posters and not thumbs, it was where they were being treated by CoverArt. Set the treatment to IGNORE, and the episode images appear as thumbs, all good.

Checked out most Treatments in CoverArt and found that any Treatment would cause the web client to display the episode images as posters.

Been a while since I first reported this, and so have confirmed it remains an issue in server version 3.0.5271.29451.

Not a biggy, world still turns..... but miss nicely treated episode images in MBC.

In your CoverArt profile that covers those episodes, check "Use Original Art Aspect Ratio".
