bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I have imported all my movies from into Emby and sync'd with Trak.tv. The marked the appropriate shows as watched within Emby and on my Shield. I noticed, when I copied my files over to my 1st gen AppleTV running Kodi, that all the nfo files are showing that everything in my library is "unwatched". When I looked at the nfo files on my "server", sure enough the watched flag is set to false. How do I get Emby to update the NFO once a show has been watched? I thought there was an option for that, but now I can't find it! Thanks. Brian
Luke 42079 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Hi, have you configured your nfo saving settings under Library -> Nfo?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 @@Luke Emby doesn't parses/read the watched tag, right? Wasn't that a change?
Luke 42079 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Correct but it sounds like he wants Emby to update the nfo. So we would have to enable nfo saving for that library as well as the user data setting on the nfo settings screen.
bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) Yes, that's exactly what I need. My ultimate goal is to have my AppleTV (1st gen running OpenElec and Kodi) get a copy of my movie library, I'd delete the database to have Kodi rebuild and read the nfo for watched state, then take my media with me. Kodi would never sync back (at least I don't care that with my setup it wouldn't). I just need a way to make sure the nfo gets updated by Emby with my watch state (maybe a scheduled task right after a traktv sync?) I wouldn't need Emby to read the watch state from the nfo, just make sure the nfo has the current (as far as Emby is concerned) watch state. Edited July 12, 2018 by bjhille
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 To me it appears you already have the setting applied so I would think you would have to look at the nfo you transferred to your AppleTV and see if it has written the watched tag or Kodi is just not reading it.
bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 Okay, I thought I was missing a setting. When I look at the nfo files (not on the AppleTV) the watched flag is set to False for movies that I have indicated that I have watched. That's why Kodi is displaying it wrong. I need to figure out why Emby isn't updating it. I figured it out!! The watched state is being saved for the wrong user. In my screenshoot above, it's supposed to use the user "Brian", but instead it's using the user "brianjhille". I signed in as "brianjhille" indicated a movie as watched, and sure enough the nfo got updated.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 That is the limitation of this feature as it only applies to one user. But glad you got it figured out.
bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 I get it only applies to one user. What I don't understand is if I select "Save user watch data to nfo's for" and I pick "Brian"....shouldn't it use the watch state for "Brian" to update the nfo's instead of "brianjhille" to update the nfo files?
Luke 42079 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 It uses whichever user you pick, but only the next time watch data gets updated for any given media item. Or the next time the nfo gets saved. It's not going to go and do a mass save operation on all of your existing nfo files.
bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 So somehow I have to mark all my stuff as "unwatched" and resync to tracktv? Is there a way to bulk do that? Would it be a bad thing to put a button on that screen that did do a mass save of the current watch states of all items in the library? Heck, maybe during a library scan.
Luke 42079 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Yea you could toggle watch status or refresh media. Either of those will get the job done. Syncing trakt might, but I'm not positive.
bjhille 3 Posted July 12, 2018 Author Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) I have done all three refresh options and none of those worked. So, I guess I have to toggle the all unwatched then watched. Too bad there isn't a way to force this for all media during a refresh or something. Edited July 12, 2018 by bjhille
Happy2Play 9781 Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 You could look at Notepad++ to change the watched tag of every nfo file if you are looking to change all.
Luke 42079 Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Why do you feel the refresh options didn't work? Perhaps you didn't give them enough time?
