Should I rebuild database and how?

Have run mb3 since 1st beta.

I store all metadata in media folders. I use mb3 for all metadata.

Tv xml remains unedited

I make use of watched status and last added unwatched

I use unc paths for media collection definition

I have manually enhanced movie and tv primary image metadata. Not identical to fetcher sources.

my music library contains organisational subfolders which are not artists eg \\server\music\compilations\country\various country compilation albums.

I have used mb3 dashboard to make manual changes to a handful of film titles eg add (theatrical release) suffix to bladerunner. change film title back to language as it appears on filesystem folder/filename.

Boxsets stored on filesystem as such with collection.xml.

Current challenges

spurious artist and album xml in music folder structure

Spurious Albumartists showing in dashboard. related to above.

Roku ++ client unable to browse music collection. (Error retrieveing album artists)

Duplicate backdrops in movie and music folders

mb3 Has undergone alot of changes/improvements and I think i should have a spring clean, remove old xml, backdrops and let mb3 rebuild.

To ensure everything is as tidy as possible...some musings..

Is it the right time? are there any improvements to local metadata on roadmap to suggest I leave it a bit longer?

Can I drop just parts of the library eg music?

Do I remove xml from ibn\artists as well

Do I remove the cached fetcher information from appdata and all backdrops in media folders to ensure mb3 db is alligned to image metadata in media folders.

Can I backup watched status prior to rebuild? To reinstate afterwards.

Is there a better approach to deleting library.db content and rebuilding to tidy up. Is this an old school approach?

General hints and tips on library rebuilding appreciated.

Thank you.

Rebuild was a bust. Could not work it out enough re granularity of data loss for it be useful. Good news ..my music library issues are resolved by a recent build

I was going to start a topic about "How to re-aquire metadata?" -- but this topic seems close enough...

I also want to "start from scratch" with all the metadata and artwork for my MB3 collections.  Is there a process?
