kRyszard 0 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 (edited) I have a photo album folder divided into years i.e. in the root folder there are folders "2002", "2003", ..., "2018" and nothing else. I expect the query http://....:8096/emby//Users/1777608bd3f74ccbb3501a5edea60a8b/Items?parentId=52f1cc5cfe5ba8c9452cebe7bca9e026&Fields=Tags,Path to return a list of these folders. It is almost true. In the result there are all folders except "2010" and instead of it there is a video file from inside the folder i.e. an item of type "Video" and path "...\root\2010\2010-03-20 josh.mp4". Besides, some of these year items are of type "Folder" and some are "PhotoAlbum". EDIT: this is true for the last stable version as well as the beta, i.e. 3.4.1.24 . Edited July 3, 2018 by kRyszard
Luke 42080 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 it should match whatever the UI is displaying in the web app for that given folder.
kRyszard 0 Posted July 4, 2018 Author Posted July 4, 2018 I've just checked: yes, you are right, I've only now realised that the emby web application is actually linking to the video instead of the folder for "2010". Can I somehow restart the indexing process or debug it?
Luke 42080 Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Can we look at your folder structure as well as how you set it up in emby? Thanks.
kRyszard 0 Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 This is the folder with photos: This is the emby config: Most of the folders in the "FOTY" folder contain only subfolders: There are only 3 exceptions: the "_" folder contains folders, images and videos. It is reported as path: F:\disk\FOTY\_ and type: PhotoAlbum the "2013" folder contains folders and two images. It is reported as path: F:\disk\FOTY\2013 and type: PhotoAlbum the "2010" folder contains folders and a single video. It is reported as path: F:\disk\FOTY\2010\2010-03-20 xxxxxx.mp4 and type: Video Note: the "2010" folder also contained a file "2010-03-20 xxxxxx.nfo" but I deleted it and restarted emby server and nothing changed when listing the top folder via rest or webapp.
Luke 42080 Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 When you click on that library in the emby web app, what do you see?
kRyszard 0 Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 This is part of the screen: The "2010" is now red because I've just added a jpg to that folder and started reindexing. But five minutes ago there was a thumbnail of the video and there was (and still is) a play button (I have the folder hovered with mouse) that just started the video. Update: Emby is now at 95% of the reindexing and the red changed to some thumbnail. The play button is still there but after clicking I can finally browse the "2010" folder, yippiiey Also the rest client reports "2010" as path: F:\disk\FOTY\2010 and type: PhotoAlbum
kRyszard 0 Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 Sorry, I've probably added more confusion by adding the image file and reindexing so now there is this folder icon over "2010". I've just reverted it (i.e. deleted the image and reindexed) so "2010" is again folders and a single video. This is how it looks like now:
kRyszard 0 Posted July 7, 2018 Author Posted July 7, 2018 No, I only found a workaround for a "video instead of folder" problem. Both web app and rest api work the same depending if there is a video or video+sth else in the folder: It looks like there is a bugged feature in emby: the feature is that when emby detects that a folder contains a video only and no images (but perhaps subtitles?) then it replaces the folder with direct link to the video. This saves the user an additional click and a bit of waiting time. the bug is that this feature does not detect if there are folders on the same level as the video.
