Suggestion - "Zoom" setting for iPhone X

I have a lot of Blu-Ray remuxes for movies with a wider aspect ratio than 16:9, this means that the black letterbox bars are actually part of the video stream.

 

This results in playback on an iPhone X screen being completely window boxed (black bars top, bottom, left, and right). See below:

 

 

Could an option be added to zoom in (or some other solution) which would make the picture wider and effectively just crop the top and the bottom of the picture (on wider movies this would just crop out the black bars)? This could be manually selected, or activated with a double tap of the screen.
