ET for W10 Live TV no Mpeg2 support

When ever I try to play live tv it always transcodes. When I look at the reason it says video codec not supported. The original codec says mpeg2. Does Emby theater for Windows 10, not support mpwg2. I do not have the issue with the desktop version. Will this be something you support in the future? It also does not seem to like the audio codec either, so I never get the Dolby to come through. I know it is not my windows machine, as I have no issues playing these with other Windows 10 apps.

I try out the Windows 10 app every so often to see if you guys have improved it. For tv I started using HD Homerun waiting for you guys to add some of these features.

The store app uses the windows player. So you'll need to install mpeg2 add in for windows.

Or just use the desktop app, which is much better.

I already have it installed. Installed it when I installed the HDHomerun player.

The Desktop app is not easy to control the window size. I actually think both versions need  lot of work. Direct tune channels. see guide and program info without leaving the program you are watching. I could go on.

I am assuming this is a new version? The desktop installer keeps crashing.

It's been able to direct tune channels for quite some time.

I guess I have the latest. It does not work for my Harmony or Keyboard. My remote does work with Emby, it just will not direct tune. Are there any special settings?

I am trying to retire my Media center PC and use the W10 full time, I need to have remote support for the wife. She will not use Emby, she does use HDHomerun. However, HDhomerun does not have my movie collection. So when she wants to watch I movie my daughter or I have to start Emby for her. In addition, I currently have four different system doing recordings; Windows Media Center, cable box, HDhomerun and Emby. I do have 35 TB on the one machine and a few more on the other, so space is not an issue. It would just be easier if I could use one system for everything.

I have so much space because when I would rip my movies I would not do any additional compression. Now I compress with H264 and H265. Having two versions is still smaller than the one uncompressed.

I use a Harmony remote and it works well. Can you explain what steps you make when it 'will not direct tune'?

I press the numbers of the channel I want, when I am watching another channel. My remote is working with Emby, as I can control everything else. I have even tried with a keyboard. I have tried this in both versions of the windows app.

What drives me insane is the W10 app that there is no Mpeg2 support. I have installed the Mpeg2 extensions.

Oh keying in the channel number...that hasn't been implemented.

And I can't seem to get the MPEG2 extension working, either.

I guess what I was defining as direct tune, vs what others were calling it are two different things.

Well, it is direct tuning, but the vehicle that gets you there is different :) I was thinking selecting a show in the guide, not switching channel by using the channel number while watch another show. This has been brought up more than once.

OK sorry by direct tune i thought you meant direct play vs transcoding.
