snorkel 15 Posted July 9, 2018 Author Posted July 9, 2018 Luke, is there a how to on this convert option, it seems it's a bit more complicated than just enabling it. I don't have the full logging turned on but I would have to check. I will check that download and sync thing. Still wish you would just bring back the on the fly conversion, it had it's limitations but it worked super nice for stuff you didn't watch while recording..
snorkel 15 Posted July 9, 2018 Author Posted July 9, 2018 Ok, I looked in the download and sync and the reason it's so slow is it's converting 100s of items, I told it to do new content only which I assume meant new recordings. Does new content really mean unwatched? I enabled the full speed converson option do I need to cancel the 100s of queued up items?
Luke 42078 Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 No, you don't need to cancel them, it will apply starting with the next one.
maegibbons 1287 Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 AFAIK there is NO option for new content ONLY. The New content checkbox ALLOWS it to scan for new content. There is a box for ONLY UNWATACHED CONTENT but that includes all your back catalog of unwatched items. Krs Mark
Luke 42078 Posted July 10, 2018 Posted July 10, 2018 Just a FYI, I don't like this convert thing. Any chance you could bring back the transcode on the fly as a option? Even though you cold not seek while it was recording it was done immediately after the recording was done and then seek etc worked great. I can tell you we rarely watch a recording that is in progress. This new convert is slower than pond water, I had new content record last night and it has never converted, the scheduled task is at 25% finished. I selected the convert all new content for my recording folder as I don't want to have to do it for every recording. Also after setting the convert on a object, when you go back the prior settings are not shown, it just defaults back. Not trying to be difficult but the old option was superior and just saying Plex does have that option. Just to comment on this, yes the competition does have converting on the fly but it's less ambitious than what we were trying to do before. It says in the .ts container, keeps original audio, and simply converts the video to h264. If we stay with .ts then it would help resolve some of the issues we had before, but then of course it reduces the value of the feature altogether.
