Suggested Hardware acceleration settings?

I've got a i7-4790k with a Geforce 1080Ti running Emby (it's also my gaming computer obviously)

What's the suggested hardware acceleration settings for that setup? 

 

Is it capable of decoding H264, HEVC, Mpeg2, Mpeg4 and VC1?

Do I want hardware encoding enabled as well?

 

I know it's mostly just a matter of choosing what does the work.

Are we still at the point we want to download the special ffmpeg nightly? I know longer see the place to set the custom location for that file like we used to have.

 

I hope I'm not repeated/rehashing an old question but I didn't see any posts specific to the 1080Ti.

Yes, originally it just came with H264, Mpeg4, and VC1 decoding checked. (i'm assuming thats the default when it's turned on)

I had recently given my parents access to my server through their samsung tv app and noticed them playing a HEVC file and my cpu was at max usage. (they picked one of the only 4k titles in my library at the time, what are the odds =)

I checked the HEVC box while they were watching and it seemed to switchover on the fly and they didn't notice anything (they were early enough in the show I noticed my transcoding line started over and my video card was then in usage instead of CPU.

 

I haven't noticed any problems but just trying to figure out if most people hardware accelerate everything or nothing or if there's problems with certain types of files.

One of those cases where "too many options" brought up my question I guess =)

 

Also just seeing if I need to update my ffmpeg.exe manually like you used to have to or is that done with emby updates?

You don't need to do anything with ffmpeg, emby will handle that. All you need to do is enable the nvenc option.
