Roku App Subtitles

I would like to suggest that the Roku App display the extension or type of subtitle present in a video file to avoid selecting a subtitle stream that will trigger transcoding during playback.

 

I have a 600+ disc library that has already been transferred to my server. If I had known that Emby would need to transcode when playing back image-based (like PGS) subtitles to the Roku, I could have filtered those out during the transfer process. As it is now, I have go through each and every title to ensure that SRT subtitle files are present.

When playing back, I may be able to see multiple subtitle streams, and I would need to guess which one is which when selecting.

 

Better yet would be a global switch that would ensure ONLY SRT (or other text-based) subtitle streams are displayed.
