Ocracoke Island 0 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 I have one channel 3 miles away, it very low powered, I get a picture, but no sound. It is in the opposite direction of the antenna farm, not sure that’s a problem, I do have a problem with one antenna that has a reflector on it getting the station, when pointed away from it, pointed at the antenna farm, it is that low powered. I was thinking maybe there is an audio setting like SAP that is messing up with the sound? But isn’t SAP for analog stations? If so, that rules that out? This is using Emby, running on Windows, with a HDHomeRun Extend on a 32 Inch TCL Roku TV. I don’t see a setting on the TV that may be the problem. Any ideas, anyone else seen this? And, no, I don’t have the mute button on.
Luke 42083 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Hi there, can we please see the emby server and ffmpeg logs? you can learn how to attach them here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
Ocracoke Island 0 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Ok, just got a new Roku Ultra in the post today, hooked it up to the downstairs TV, same problem, except it does complain slightly about the html header messed up? My guess, weak signal. Then I remembered there is a Window’s HDHOMERUN app, I downloaded it to the Emby machine, same problem. So, my guess this is a HDHOMERUN turner problem, or the station’s problem, not Roku’s, the TV, or Emby, since my desktop has the same problems without using Emby? I can still post a log, but it seems like a moot point. This station transmits at 4.6 kW, that’s not much. I starting to think I’m the only one on the peninsula trying to watch it.
Luke 42083 Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 that's very interesting, thanks for the info. One thing to try, if you lower the in-app quality setting, this should force the server to transcode the stream which may resolve the issue. please note that doing this will affect all video playback, not just live tv. as a starting point you could try setting it to 3 mbps. But generally speaking you want to leave it on auto.
