Emby crashes when clicking play on any video

I am using emby for android tv on a nvidia shield tv software version 6.3, emby windows server version 3.4.1.0 and just switched to the beta version of the emby app 1.6.03g (the normal version was having the same issue).

 

When i click play on any video, it goes to a black screen then after about 30 seconds I get the message the app is no longer responding. The app will play music properly.

 

Everything has been working fine until sometime in the past 2 or so weeks (i was out of town and not using it).

 

All of the systems are on my wired home network.

 

My roku app and my android phone app on the same network are working properly.

 

Any ideas?

When this was happening, my internet was out.  It just came back on and now video plays.  Does that have something to do with it or just a coincidence?

Probably related.  Unfortunately, it means we also could not get a report of the crash.

 

But, that gives me an idea of where I should be looking.
