Would anyone want a godaddy dns A record updated emby plugin

I needed to build a small utility which updates the A type record for my godaddy account dns data.

My ISP changes my public up all the time and I needed something automatic.

It works great!

I know not everyone uses that domain supplier, but I would wrap the utility into a scheduled task emby plugin if people wanted it, or saw a useful reason.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

So, I do this from my firewall. For people where that isn’t an option I could see this being a great idea.

Emby for Alexa requires emby server I.p or dns name to be updated and accurate for it to work, so this would work well with emby for Alexa (if they cannot integrate with updates from emby connect). Just ran into I.p change issue with emby for Alexa beta testing

I do this from my router.  From my perspective, depending on how you configure your network (aka if your double nat'd for instance because the provided router is horrible) this just smells like support disaster.

Personally I'm handling ddns (dynamic dns) updates with ddclient on a raspberry pi. It just asks checkip.dyndns.org for the ip every 10 min and updates the dns record accordingly.

Just another option for anyone interested
