Hi,

 

I am using emby at home and it is great, but I want to access it at my girlfriends house on her Roku, and on my phone when I am out of town.... its not working. Tried porting my router etc...

 

First of all, can emby connect if my server is on a VPN?

Hi Renewgeorgia,

 

For your port forwarding issue:

- The port you will need to forward is 8096 for http, This will need to be forwarded to the static IP of the device running emby.

- If you have done this correctly then please make sure that the firewall allows 8096 through also.

- Try Telnet to check the port

 

Using VPN:

Providing both client and server are on the same LAN then you will be able to connect
