AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 A few weeks ago the m3u tuner was working perfect. No buffereing, no freezing and channels loaded with no issues etc. A few days ago the channels will load then play for 5 seconds and freeze then buffer like crazy. I Go off the channel go off live TV and go back on it and none of the channels load at all. Just get 'unable to tune channel' or messages along them lines. Restart the server and it will come on but exactly the same as before. Its the same m3u and I've tested it with VLC and perfect player and it works perfect. Anyone got any ideas this is driving me crazy now
ebr 16181 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Hi. Can we please look at an example? How to Report a Problem
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 I've attached the logs for you. I'm using the latest beta server but have tried stable as well and still have the same issues. Added VPS specs below if thats any help VPS Specs Windows Server 2012 R2 5 x Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2680 (8-cores per processor) 8GB RAM 1gbps upload and download EmbyLog.txt
ebr 16181 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 It is kinda hard to read that log due to its formatting (no line breaks) but it doesn't appear that transcoding was able to start at all due to errors with the source...
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 Ive got direct stream live tv enabled and output is mpegts whuch was working pergect a week or so ago. Ive tried hls as well and it just does the same thing
ebr 16181 Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Are you sure that ffmpeg log was from any form of successful playback? Really didn't look like it. From what app are you playing? Have you tried the web app? Perhaps Luke can spot something in that log...
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 That wasn't a successful playback. I no longer have the logs from a successful playback.
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 I'm using Nvidia Sheild TV as my client and I have a couple of Firesticks on the server as well which are having the same issue. I'll try the web app now
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 This is the log from my phone web player Log.txt
ebr 16181 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 This is the log from my phone web player Was that good playback or was there a problem with it?
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 14, 2018 Author Posted June 14, 2018 It seemed ok as far as I remember. I'll do it again tonight when I get home
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 14, 2018 Author Posted June 14, 2018 Just ran it on my phone again and playback is much better. Do you think it could be the abdroid TV app not natively supporting the stream type?. Ive tried hls output as well which seems to use remux or transcode rather than direct stream or direct play
Luke 42078 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Can you provide an ffmpeg log from android tv playback? I'd like to compare that to the one from the web app session. thanks.
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 I've submitted the logs through debug options on android TV app
Luke 42078 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 That's not the ffmpeg log. You would get that one from the server.
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) This is the only one I can find. I have ran the android TV app for about 5 minutes on a few different channels but this is the latest log showing Log (2).txt Edited June 15, 2018 by AllviewTV
ebr 16181 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 That is doing a straight stream copy of both video and audio but not going fast enough for playback. Other than a problem at the source or an extremely under-powered server or something interfering with the traffic between the source and server, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to deliver the content at real speed... Edit: I suppose it could be a hardware bottleneck or issue as well - like a slow connection to the transcoding temporary folder or malfunctioning hard drive. If it is an SSD, we had a recent report of someone having performance issues when write-caching was disabled on it and also of Windows Defender trying to scan the stream in real time and interfering.
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 I couldnt change write-caching because the VPS wouldnt let me but I've disabled windows defender. I'll give it a go now
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Surely 8gb RAM and 5 x Intel Xeon Processor E5-2680 8-core should be able to handle it
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 Just a quick update live TV is still freezing / jumping but when I use 'enternal Player' option and like perfect player it runs with no issues whatsoever its not froze or jumped once. Do you think it could be the built in player emby uses?
ebr 16181 Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Using the external player may also be causing a full transcode. Did you try using the MPV option in the app?
AllviewTV 2 Posted June 20, 2018 Author Posted June 20, 2018 I've checked on the dashboard when using external and it says 'direct play' when I'm watching a stream. Yeah I've tried MPV as still crashes
