amura11 4 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I recently migrated all my playlists and I was trying to get them to import into Emby but the majority of them don't seem to work. The only ones that worked were ones that only referenced files in the same directory as the playlist. Is this by design or is there a bug here? All my music is in sub folders under a root music folder, the playlist folder is under this folder as well. Originally my playlists had absolute paths to the files which I thought might be an issue so I changed them to be relative and that didn't work either. Any help on this is appreciated.
Luke 42078 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 The files don't have to be in the same directory, but the paths in the playlist files need to exactly match the paths used in emby library setup. In other words, the playlists need to contain known library content. So for that reason I would suggest using relative paths in the playlists. Also make sure to check for case sensitivity discrepancies between what's in the playlist vs the files.
amura11 4 Posted June 11, 2018 Author Posted June 11, 2018 That makes sense. It looks like a couple of my playlists actually did work with absolute paths since the files are known library content. I did some tests and it looks like some characters cause the playlists not to work. From what I can tell square brackets, ampersands, and/or tildes seem to mess Emby up (I built the original files using MusicBee and it didn't have troubles with these characters).
Luke 42078 Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 I'm not able to reproduce this. I would suggest trying again with the next release, thanks.
amura11 4 Posted July 5, 2018 Author Posted July 5, 2018 Hi Luke, Looks like it's working on the new version. Definitely appreciate the work on this. I have one last question, when I make a modification to a playlist in Emby is there anyway to have the modification apply to the original file or anyway to export the playlist periodically? I have a custom application that syncs playlists so they'll work across different machines and applications.
