Question about cover image vs metadata language

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I'm running Emby Server v3.4.1.0. Metadata language is default/English, and metadata/image all only set to use TMDB. For movies that do not have default/English covers, none are downloaded.

For example, Z Storm only has Chinese covers. How do I keep metadata in English, but have Emby retrieve cover image? Frustrating thing is when identifying the movie using tmdb ID or name/year, the selection screen shows a cover, but metadata download does not retrieve one.

The only related post I can find is below, which says issue is fixed.

Hi, it's not an issue so there isn't really much to fix here. If you select English as your preferred language, then you'll get english posters, or posters without a language.

If this doesn't produce an image for you then you can always use the image editor to manually download an image. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !

Any way to specify a different language for images than metadata, especially when using TMDB? Also Chinese metadata on TMDB has different variants, but Emby only allows to select one.

Yea it's possible to add settings to handle these scenarios in the future. thanks.
