pesos 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hi all, Set up my first emby server on a little celeron box I had laying around - it's awesome! Only problem so far is all the mkv files I've ripped of blurays with makemkv can't skip chapters when streaming via emby to my oppo 203. The same files on a local usb disk work properly on the oppo. Is this something that can be tweaked in emby? Thanks!
pesos 0 Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Yep I believe so - if I kill the iOS app everything keeps playing along just fine.
Luke 42083 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I mean is it direct playing or transcoding? If you're not sure that's OK, please attach the emby server log. You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
pesos 0 Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Sorry! Still getting up to speed on the terms. Yes, it is direct playing...
Luke 42083 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 In that case I don't think there's anything we can do about it. Either the oppo doesn't support it, or there's no chapters inside the file.
pesos 0 Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Hmm the chapters are there and work fine when the exact same file is placed on a usb drive and plugged into the oppo... so must be something about the oppo and network streaming. I’ll keep researching!
pesos 0 Posted June 8, 2018 Author Posted June 8, 2018 Interestingly, when I use the network browser built into the oppo itself and I browse to the emby smb share and play the files from there, chapter skip works...
Luke 42083 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Both of those are direct file access. It's a little different than streaming through a server. Still I am surprised it doesn't seem to support it over http.
anthony_m 8 Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Bringing up this old thread as this still isn't working as it should. As has been pointed out initializing playback through the network browser on the OPPO works. Chapter skipping also works when the first file of a playback session is started from the OPPO interface and then all the following files can be played back via play to while still allowing to chapter skip. As the OPPO players still seems to be pretty widespread maybe this is something that you could look into with this information?
