Spooky83 9 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hey guys, just a quick question, I've been editing some vacation videos and have been wondering if emby is capable of displaying chapters and sub-chapters in one file. For example, I have footage from a cruise where we visited a couple of cities and would prefer to edit the hole trip into one file with chapters for each city and sub-chapters for various sights. Would Emby show me both in details view under chapters?
Luke 42083 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Realistically I don't think subchapters are going to happen, but we do support chapters.
Spooky83 9 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) That's unfortunate as it would be the most elegant solution to my problem, but I'll just have to try out other approaches. I've seen in mkvtoolnix, that it's possible to add more than one line/name to a chapter, but as far as I've tested the second (or any other line) is also skipped, that would've been another idea to separate the file. Luke 42083 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I just had never heard of sub-chapters until you mentioned it. Nobody's ever brought it up before so I'm not sure there's a whole of demand for it.
Spooky83 9 Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Actually I hadn't either, but while editing them in mkvtoolnix I stumbled across it (also editions, but I haven't really figured out what they do). So I just thought I'd ask if I've missed something in Emby. I'm also not sure if I could use that option for any other kind of video, but for the mentioned vacation footage it would have been great. The only media player I use, that supports sub-chapters seems to be VLC. Edited June 7, 2018 by Spooky83
