stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hello, everybody, a few weeks ago the update came to 3.4.0.0 and then 3.4.1.0 which crashed my server. Crash is exaggerated, the dashboard and the client hung up. I send a screenshot in the attachment. Thereupon I am back to version 3.3.1.0 and now I finally managed to set up a test server to have a closer look at the problem again. The test server is an Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 with 12 cores and 64 GB RAM. I have now installed the latest beta version and the problem still exists. You can set everything and use the dashboard, but once a video is played, it hangs up. I have to kill both emby and ffmpeg in the task manager. Maybe someone can help me with the problem. Many thanks embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-c81caab4-117d-443a-aafb-d040688c77eb.txt
Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hi, I notice you customized the transcoding temp folder. Try resetting that back to default. Thanks.
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 Hi Luke, I reset it to defaults but the problem is still the same. I attach you the new log files Thanks embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-ac28eef2-3c12-4e0c-a735-f81d4a2506ad.txt
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 I tried a different file with the same result. Logs are attached I also tried a tv show and live tv a few hours ago, same problem embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-5438a8d4-b68b-42ed-a5cf-0070671b5cd2.txt
Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Can you try playing something that's not located on your e: drive?
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 I tried to play from c: and d: same problem info for you: c: -> system SSD d: -> SSD for emby files like cache etc. e: -> array with hdd i don't have any idea what the problem could be, everything works fine in dashboard until you start a movie. after emby hung up you are also not able to quit emby with the tray icon, you have to use the task manager and kill the process and also ffmpeg. embyserver-63663904511.txt ffmpeg-remux-0b593ab8-8ee7-44a1-8dce-f96b4f9f46dd.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-594bce41-cd7f-4a5e-b394-e4d9f6583664.txt
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 yes, last update installed 2 days ago and last time checked for new updates 2 hours ago
Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm not sure then at this point, sorry. It looks like ffmpeg is causing some kind of stall that is bringing everything to a halt.
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 just for info, i have a second server with same hardware and there is version 3.3.1.0 running and everything works well. and also on this server 3.3.1.0 has worked without problem as I tested before I installed the newer version
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) is version 3.3.1.0 running another ffmpeg version and is it possible to use that older version of ffmpeg in version 3.4.1.11 ? forget the question, i replaced the ffmpeg and ffprobe file from the older version in the system folder and the problem is still the same... Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Yes you could try replacing the included build with 3.4.2 from here: https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ thanks.
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 OK, i tried it with build 3.4.2 but it is still the same problem. Logs attached embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-88d4017e-33a7-407a-af79-dbee48c27b8b.txt
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 if there's anything else that comes to your mind that I can test or rearrange, please let me know. Maybe there is someone with server 2016 where it works, then maybe it's something about the system. The event log shows at least no errors.
CBers 7450 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 FWIW I am running Emby server under Windows Server 2016 without any issue. Currently running v3.4.1.11 beta.
Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 You may also want to consider hardware diagnostics to check for a possible hardware failure.

Currently running v3.4.1.11 beta. where exactly could my problem be, I have 2 servers with windows 2016 and both have the problem. Maybe I should say that I only use the onboard graphics card, does that matter?
stony79 0 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 You may also want to consider hardware diagnostics to check for a possible hardware failure. CPU works fine, memory is checked, it's ECC RAM, Harddisks and SSDs are all new and don't show any error. What else can I check or have forgotten?
Luke 42078 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm a little unsure at this point as we haven't seen this before. You may still want to run hard drive scans.
CBers 7450 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 @@stony79 What disk storage system are you using? Is it just NTFS drives, raid or pooling? My server is fairly stock, with just DriveBender pooling storage. I don't use any GPU transcoding, as the server only has a basic GPU, but 99.9% of my content is Direct Streamed, with the remainder just an occasional audio remux.
