Marekkon5 0 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Hello. I installed Emby server on my Raspberry Pi 3. Network all ok. The movies are in 480p/720p quality 1-2gb/movie. But when I play it on any PC/Phone it is freezing after few minutes etc. Some movies wont even load. Is there some optimalisation I am missing? >Raspberry Pi 3, DietPi, Emby installed using the dietpi software > SDCard 32gb, Class10
Luke 42078 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Hi there, can we look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Marekkon5 0 Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 Hello. Found out that its Web-App specific problem. Using the Emby android/windows app everything works ok. Sorry for late answer and thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Can you still provide the information requested? Thanks.
Marekkon5 0 Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 - Cant post screenshot. The movies just freezer every few minutes/seconds - Logs, will post tomorrow, currently reinstalled and have to copy movies. Thanks
Marekkon5 0 Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Latest FFMPEG log: https://pastebin.com/YNZE0kTG Latest Server log: https://pastebin.com/uiUCHuEA After reinstall its still the same. Some movies wont even load. Thanks & Sorry for latency.
Luke 42078 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 This is from Emby Server 3.3.1. The latest version is 3.4.1. However, regardless, the problem is that the Pi cannot transcode fast enough. I would suggest limiting your playback to videos that can direct play without transcoding. You could try uninstalling again and using our newer installation package from the website: https://emby.media/download That will perform slightly better, but probably still not fast enough. Thanks.
Marekkon5 0 Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Thanks for answer! Still, why in app it plays all ok? The Pi still encodes it right? How can I determine which videos can be played without transcoding? I downloaded like 7 different movies all with other formats andd all were lagging (some more, some less).
Luke 42078 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Still, why in app it plays all ok? Because the app can direct play without transcoding.
Luke 42078 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I would suggest checking out the wiki articles for our emby apps, here you can learn about what formats can direct play: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki Thanks.
Marekkon5 0 Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Or one more question. Is it possible to encode using GPU (with the paid codecs)?
Luke 42078 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 which paid codecs? i'm aware of the mpeg2 decoder for pi but are there any others?
Luke 42078 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 OK but those are just decoders for mpeg2 and vc1. The example you supplied above is h264 input so they wound't even be used with that.
