josephzitt 1 Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 I would like to be able to use additional categories within the People metadata other than what appears to be only six existing ones (Actor, Director, Composer, Guest Star, Producer, Writer). For example, for a lot of my library, Choreographer would be useful, since I would want to be able to search for that, and they don't fit other categories. At the very least, having an Other category might help. Is there any way to do this currently?
Waldonnis 148 Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 I was just thinking about this today. Thanks for bringing it up! In the past, I just made Actor entries with no role filled then, then edited the database directly. This was practical for the one-off cases, but it's not a workable solution for anything more involved and it's just annoying to do/script. I'd be happy if there was a Crew entry in the dropdown, with the Role box input being the job title/credit. This would make it less intrusive than adding a ton of new entries into the dropdown, but still allow full entry capability for roles other than those already covered by the dropdown. I know most people don't do a lot of people metadata editing and don't really care about extensive crew lists, but sometimes it's nice to have some of the not-famous roles or jobs listed (especially if your name is in there ). It's also helpful for video types that aren't covered at all by metadata providers (demos, student/project animations, etc). 1
