superloopy 1 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Is this ok? I've got a pc and a separate htpc downstairs. Is it acceptable to run MB3 server alongside either MBT or MBC on the same pc, in my case the htpc? Or should i split the server off to the upstairs pc? Problem doing it this way is both machines then need to be powered up. The htpc is a dual core q6600 p4 .... good enough i wonder?
AdrianW 1058 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Yes, that's fine - I've doing the same thing. It's probably best to set the PC up so it just goes to sleep, rather than powering it down though. That way when it wakes, the server process will be up and running straight away and you shouldn't have any issues with MBC (or MBT) connecting to it.
superloopy 1 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Quick reply, thanks. Are your clients set to point at localhost or do you still specify full ip address ie 192.168.1.x?
Abobader 3464 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Good day, Same issue, either as localhost (within the same pc) or the IP. My best
Abobader 3464 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Forgot to add tho, if you are not planing lan clients, then all you need is localhost.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I have one machine with the server on it and MBT. This machine is always on and never sleeps. Then there are fifteen other devices in the house that would have the capability to run a client.
