diegov 21 Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Hi, It would be great if we could add our own artwork to Live TV programs if its not provided by the XMLtv provider. Most of the TV line ups are the same everyday, so something simple where you can right click the Program box / tile and then add the custom image, just as you would with a Movie or TV Show would be great. Thanks
diegov 21 Posted May 28, 2018 Author Posted May 28, 2018 Hi, thanks for your quick response. Yes, customisation is one of the reasons i moved to Emby . Since most of the daily shows are the same, it would not be a huge effort for me to add artwork to the Live TV programs and it would help with keeping the interface beautiful. Maybe in future you could also add a process to go out and collect the artwork from tvdb by matching the show name and Network when its not present in the XMLtv stream, however in the short term, if we could right click a program tile and add our own image it would be great!. I understand it may not be a big priority, hope you can keep it on your list. Thanks!
Luke 42079 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 add a process to go out and collect the artwork from tvdb by matching the show name and Network when its not present in the XMLtv We used to try to do this but had to remove it because the risk of incorrect matches is very high.
diegov 21 Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 Could you re - add this feature with an on and off option for people that would like to use it and then augment it with the ability to override the auto select artwork with one that is user defined / custom. Similar to how TV Shows and Movies work now?

Similar to how TV Shows and Movies work now? The problem is even when it's off by default, people still turn it on because they think it sounds neat, then come back to complain when they think all the incorrect matches are Emby's problem. Not to mention the additional time it adds to the guide refresh process. You can probably find these issue reports by searching old threads. It got to the point where we were getting hit so hard with troubleshooting that we had to just take the feature away. Wouldn't an alternative approach be a script to pre-process your input xmltv and go out to the internet and add information to the xml before Emby reads it?

Yes absolutely. It would however require me to write and maintain my own script/code. I guess if my suggestion isnt seen as too valuable by the community, i may have to go down this path. Thanks!
bitteronthefruit 0 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 How do you other services do this? Or TV shows or movies this signed in ID code that can be used to collect additional resources about the show? Like I noticed that one of my channels is showing the movie “jumper“ which I can find information about through IMDb. But when I go to the listing in “live TV“, it shows no description about the movie. When you watch content on a cable service such as DIRECTV, does it collect all of this data including post your artwork and descriptions and enter it All in by hand or is it simply seeking information based upon the “title” of the program?
Luke 42079 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Hi, the information and images have to be in the guide data, that's where we get it from. So it really depends on what guide data provider you setup.
