jonomite 29 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 How do I configure EmbyCon to connect to my server remotely? Do I have to manually enter in the server IP address? Or is there a way to do that automatically? Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
sualfred 677 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 If you have a static IP of your ISP -> just use this one If not: Use a dynamic DNS. There are tons of available free and pay services out there. Most better domain providers also support it.

So, just to make sure I follow, if I'm not on my home network and I do have a static IP, I just need to enter that in the EmbyCon settings? It won't update that automatically?
sualfred 677 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 No static IP = ISP changes your internet IP from time to time = Need to adjust the connection settings in EmbyCon No static IP + dynamic DNS (eg myserver.dyndns.org) = ISP changes your IP from time to time, but the DDNS domain always points to the correct oone = No adjustments needed Static IP = No adjustments needed There are hundreds of options how to achieve a working DDNS scenario. Just search for "ddns howto" and you will find uncountable articles. In my case I use the dyn dns service of my webhosting provider and configured ddclient on my 24/7 Raspberry to adjust the IP if required.
