WP8 app issues-

Hi - I've installed MB3 but it doesn't seem to work very well with my Lumia 1020.

Going into the app I am taken to 'movies, TV, and Music'

Clicking on TV takes me to 'latest unseen' - Trying to play any of these files is not possible... Clicking on "Duck Dynasty season finale"  Takes me to a nice 'season 5' page with a duck dynasty logo and a big play button. Clicking on the play button nothing happens.

Backing up and swiping over to the section entitled 'next up' shows me one show - 'the amazing race 24x03... Clicking on it shows me 'Season 24' with an amazing race logo and a big play button. Clicking on the play button nothing happens.

Backing up and swiping over to the shows section I can browse into and actually play the shows,  I don't get a big play button until I've drilled down to an episode.

Backing up to genres I can browse in and play.

I originally was running the release version of MB3 server, when it didn't work I thought I'd try the beta. But it didn't solve anything. I'm currently on the beta version.

Any thoughts? Or are 'latest unseen' and 'next up' non functional at this time?

 

I'm not at home if you need logs I can get them tommorow.

 My guess is if you look at the server you will see the the CPU has spiked and that it is transcoding the file to a format the phone can play.  The logs from the server and the phone will show this so please upload them when you get home.

Hi I appreciate the response - I'll try to get you some logs in 12+ hours.

 

But it doesn't make sense that transcoding is the issue... If that was the problem (I would think) it would act be the same regardless of how I approached it.

You do understand that it plays if I access the show via certain menus, and doesn't even appear to register me pressing the play button if I try to access it from other menus?

 

By the way it plays fine via Plex on my windows phone.

I've just tried this and tapping play on the episode (having gone to it from latest unseen) takes me to the player. Are you saying you're not even getting that far?

 

From the main page, can you tap the appbar > about > log file > clear logs. Once that is done, can you then try going through latest unseen, trying to play something. If/when that doesn't work, can you go back to that log files section and send the logs please.

Oh and from midnight to 5am(ish) EDT my server is probably slammed converting the days recordings. it's an AMD-A10, WMC, MCEBuddy, Plex, MB3, and Comskip all run on it. MCEBuddy is told it can kick of the conversions at midnight and is *allowed* to run till 6pm - but I think it's typically done around 5am.

Thanks for the access @@ThePaladinTech I've managed to get the bottom of these problems and the fixes are now in the beta I'm about to send out. If you aren't part of the beta, could you please PM me your microsoft account and I'll get you added to it.

Yep, that fixed that!

 

But, it would appear that the beta version really sucks the battery down fast? I've uninstalled it (and a few other items) and the battery is doing ok.  I'll try installing the beta again tomorrow and see if the quick battery drain returns or not.

 

Also, it may be worth noting that installing the beta *while* having the released version installed results in not being able to complete the settings of the beta. <-- But that may be normal?

 

? If I review the beta no one will ever really see it? Or will the review show on the released one as well?

There's no point reviewing the beta Can you clarify what you mean when you say you can't complete the settings? Is this on first run? If so, can you use the link in the email and grab the latest update (there was another one)

When you first install it, and first launch it. There's a screen that I think all you can do is say "ok". Which takes you to a similar screen that has two choices. I think they were "skip" and "settings" ... Clicking on settings should take you too the place you put your IP and port in. But it didn't it just ignored you.

Once I uninstalled beta and real ease version, and reinstalled beta it worked fine. Course maybe I got a newer beta the second time?

 

Should I be able to install beta and production at same time?

You can have both beta and production. It worked after you re-installed because you got the slightly newer version.
