FatRod 1 Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Is it feasible to run emby server for Windows, if Windows 10 is running off of a USB? I'm looking at building a new Emby Server but want to keep the 4 available sata ports free for HDDs. Hence I want to run Windows 10 from a USB stick but I've read that there will be sacrifices in performance. Would it make things like transcoding impossible?
Luke 42080 Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Transoding is cpu bound so you might be OK there. The biggest thing is having the server cache folder on a usb drive might not perform great, but if you decide to try it let us know how it goes. Thanks.
