Home videos are grouping as multi version videos

I just noticed that videos in my "Home videos & photos" libraries have been grouped together in all folders with 5 videos or less no matter filename, length or content. This is terrible! They have nothing to do with each other and shouldn't be grouped. Why is this happening and how do I "ungroup" them??? I have 3.4.1.0 on Windows.

Hi, can you please discuss an example? What are the file names?

Basically in a folder named John Smith with a few (seems to be around 5-6 at most), files with the file names like John Smith - Ipsum.mp4, John Smith - Dolor.mp4, John Smith - Some random name.mp4. Where the only thing in common is the first part "John Smith - ", then Emby treats them as if they are all duplicates.

If any file in the folder is renamed, for example John Smith - Ipsum.mp4 -> Ipsum.mp4 then ALL files are treated as individual files again.

Right, that's because that particular naming scheme matches our multi-version naming scheme:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming#multi-version-movies

You do realize that it's a very common naming scheme, right?

Fix this, I've never had this problem before. "Features" like this doesn't belong in the Home movie libraries. I mean, it's the only library type where you can put stuff that doesn't fit in TV or Movies. Doesn't mean they're not TV or Movies for example. It's not like we have tons of actually home movies... Stop messing with our "Home Movie" library, if not for Home Movie feature I could just use Plex.

A suggestion, every time you introduce a new "feature", allow us to turn it off in the settings. Better yet, just give us a config-file with everything in it sans gui and just let us do whatever we want.
