Multiple Emby Versions on one machine for testing

Hi guys,

just a quick question how you do this.

 

I would like to know if it is possible to have more than one version of the Emby Server installed on a machine to test plugins.

 

I just released the first one and it seems that it works with the latest Stable Emby, but not with the latest beta.

Hi

 

make sure your stable server is shutdown first

 

use the portable install to add your second or more servers to your chosen location

 

once you have been through the basic setup wizard

 

go to the server dashboard>advanced and change the ports to different values from the defaults of 8096 and 8920 to something else - i use 9096 and 9920

 

restart the new server - check you can connect etc - using the new ports

 

start up you original server and check you can connect etc

 

I would also change the name of the server in your dashboard so its a little easier to tell them apart

 

you will only get one emby icon in the system try if on windows

 

So simply change the ports emby uses

Thanks for the explanation, only thing i cannot find are the portable installs for the beta servers.

all archives are already portable versions, just extract the beta.7z to what ever folder you want

 

eg.

-server v1

--- "system" folder from v1.7z

-server v2

--- "system" folder from v2.7z
