When editing images for an actor/actress, do they update at some point?

So, if I edit an image for an actor/actress, is there a scenario where that image gets replaced if I do not lock the metadata for that person?

 

I think I have seen a few images change/revert after I am sure I changed them but didn't lock the metadata. I fear I know the answer.

 

I haven't tried to replicate this yet, but maybe after I add or update an episode/movie with that person that Emby replaces the image? Or maybe after some random library scan?

 

Is that scenario possible? Image(s) get replaced after manual replacement?

 

If so...

Can I prevent image changes but allow the metadata details update unless I lock them?

 

I just want to preserve my image changes to reflect my best recollection of that person and not have it change to the flavor of the week.

The details about them are free to change unless I lock them. 

 

Just curious....

 

If the images will change when the entire entry is not locked, I will have wasted tons of hours. carp..... :/
