Show missing from next up

Im watching show "Elementary"

seasons 1-5 are watched

no episodes in season 6 are watched..(s06e01,s06e02,s06e03 on filesystem and showing in emby library)

 

show does not show in 'next up'

 

remove watched from all episodes....set season one watched...S02E01 on next up

Set season 2 watched, S03E01 on next up..

works all the way up until season 5 is watched...at which point show no longer on next up...

 

set s06e01 watched..still nothing..and S06e02 nothing...show is missing from next up during season 6.

 

whats going on there.? how do i troubleshoot show not showing on next up. please?

s06e01 is being detected as season 6 episode 1 under 'edit info'

deleted all nfos...identified show again..still does not appear on next up...very strange,,

i would check the sort title of each episode and make sure that none of them are customized.

no sort titles..

 

on further investigation, the next up  behaviour of emby seems to break if i watch a specific episode s05e24

 

 

if i unwatch all episodes of the show...and only watch watch s06e01...then s06e02 is on nextup

I can then watch any and all episodes on s1-s5 and s06E02 will stay on next up...apart from if i watch s05e24.

 

strangely if i watch s05e24...the show is dropped from next up..

 

if i manually create s05e25 and watch that and leave s05e24 unwatched, s06e02 is on next up....so it isnt even because s05e24 is the last show in s05...

 

if i delete s05e24, then i watch what remains of the entire season 5 ,  s06 is on next up......

 

how can the watched status of one episode make or brake the next up status of following episodes....seemingly only for one show...

 

 

EDIT....

found a solution in the end...

 

i renamed S05E24.mkv the file to s05e25 and refreshed the library... (presumably removing any reference to s05e24 from the database)

and then renamed s05e25 back to s05e24 and refreshed the library...

 

now its working.....

something about s05e24 was stuck 'wrong' in the database and no amount of nfo deletes, library refresh and metadata refresh would fix it...until the episode was completely removed from the filesystem and later put back....
