I chose subtitle Eng.   Made sure they were exact match for my videos.  But they do not show up.

Also recently all the media i have downloaded, i have to turn tv volume up to 100 in order to be able to hear the voices over the music/background noises.

Hi where do they not show up?

The movie(s) do not display the subtitles during playback.  I have the option to choose (eng) but nothing shows up when watching the movie.

What Emby app are you playing with?

Posted (edited)

The app on my samsung smart TV,    Web app plays the subtitles fine, however audio is the same issue.    I have to turn it up to 100 to hear the voices.

I recall some setting I made to transcode during download or something,   and enabled that, but i cannot find where I did that to turn it off,  maybe that is why the voices are so low?

The auto boostI already changed  to 1 instead of 0.   Did not change the audio.  Still have to turn it up to 100 on web and tv app

Ok please try again with the next release of the app, thanks.

In your log earlier the file was direct playing which means the audio boost setting will have no effect.

When is the next tv app released?   I just re did the installation of the app on my tv.

Is there a way to make the boost setting take affect?

Posted

As soon as Samsung approves it.

I think you just need to increase the volume on your TV and/or configure your TV audio settings. In don't think you want to be forcing transcoding just for this.

The tv volume is at 100. Ive tried all various settings for sound.  standard, movie, etc, also tried pcm or dolby digital.  none of those change makes any difference.

The sound is also very low on the web application as well.

Also, my subtitles worked fine before the last couple of server updates.    Worked fine with the tv app version I have now.

Since i do not seem to have any choice, how do i force transcoding to the audio boost will go into effect?

You'd have to lower the in-app quality setting to a value that is lower than the bitrate of the original video. Then it will transcode.

But actually, even when that happens it may decide to copy the original audio so it might not help. But i would give it a shot.

Ok, and how would I go about doing that exactly?

The web app also has to have the volume at max to barely be able to hear it.

You can just change the quality setting using the controls in the video player during playback.

It is odd, that subtitles show up for tv shows on the tv app without any issue., Just not for movies.    and no sound issue with tv shows being to quiet either, only movies.

Posted

The subtitles are probably different between the different videos and that is the reason for the variation.

I am not sure i understand, subtitles work on every single tv episode video, on the tv app, but no longer work on any movie on the tv app.

I have just now installed Emby because I needed a program that could chrome cast videofiles from my pc to the tv.
I seems to work very well except for one thing. The subtitles does not show.  The AVI file and the SRT file has exactly
the same name exept for the extension. They reside in the same map. They also function with other programs like VLc and others.
Usually there is an option to point out the SRT file when the videofile is running but I can't find sutch a possibility.
Is there another way to make the subtitles appear?

Hello again, As I am new to Emby this forum and being a forigner it is difficult for me to act in the right way.
You want me to turn to the community with my question as I understand it.
Well, I don't know how that is done. It took me quite a while to find this place.
I even don't know how to start Emby. Perhaps I must Restart the pc.
I won't bother you again-
Thank You and godbye.

You want me to turn to the community with my question as I understand it.

Well, I don't know how that is done.

(1) This community is the place where the developers (like Luke) help the users.  You're already here.

(2) Luke linked to the instructions which tell you how to give him the information which will help him to answer your question.

(3) Having mentioned that Emby "works well except for the subtitles", you now say you can't start it - I am puzzled by this...

If I am already in the community ,why must I give the information also elsewhere as instructed in the answer above?
I'm puzzled to . Furhtermore I don't know how to do it. Can't follow the advice. Too ignorant.
Why can't you give the answer here?
Regarding the start of Emby. The only way I have come upp with is to restart the computer.

Those Instructions ask you to describe the problem - with steps to reproduce the error

and also post a log from the server for the same time period as you experienced the error

Post that info HERE

Cant give an answer without more info from you

Hi there @@bjornj, you're not bothering us, in fact we're very happy to help. We're just asking you for a little troubleshooting information so that we can go over a specific example. Thanks !
