Askbruzz 1 Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 (edited) good evening, I have a problem with transcoding. The statistics for nerd gives me a speed of 20 fps and that's why the film goes stutter. The problem is that the use of cpu does not exceed 20%. what can be the problem ? Thanks Edited May 13, 2018 by Askbruzz
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 You will need to post server and transcode logs.
Luke 42078 Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Askbruzz 1 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Hello. Here's the file Log.txt transcode.txt Edited May 14, 2018 by Askbruzz
Luke 42078 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 It looks like your server is not able to convert this file fast enough to be playable, probably due to burning in subtitles. Try turning off the subtitles and see if that improves it. If that improves it, then you can consider using our subtitle download feature to acquire external text-based subtitles, which will always be more efficient. Thanks.
Askbruzz 1 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 Thanks, i will try. But can not transcode subtitles even with 25% CPU?
Luke 42078 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 You enable GPU transcoding. That's where the utilization will be.
Askbruzz 1 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 Hello, the subtitles are off for default. Tried to change to other subtitles but nothing changed.
Luke 42078 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Where are they off for default? Can you provide a new log example from this: Tried to change to other subtitles but nothing changed. Because it could be the exact same situation. Thanks.
Askbruzz 1 Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 Now i'm playing the film via firestick without subtitle but the transcoding is slowly. Tomorrow i try another film. Thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Does the same thing happen if you disable Hardware acceleration (VAAPI)?
Askbruzz 1 Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Hello, after switching subtitles from off to on and then from on to off, the stuttering gone
Luke 42078 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Thanks. Now if you'd like to enable subtitles again, consider using our subtitle download feature to help you acquire external text based subtitles. Thanks.
Riggs 312 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Hi, I have transcoding problem for the type of the audio. The scenario: My LG 4K Tv can play dts 5.1, but, like is knowing, dolby from thruehd to atmos is a problem when needs to be transcoded. My emby app is on my nVidia Shield who pass to my yamaha and then to the TV. When the receiver is off, it can passthough the audio. However at the client side "houston we have a problem"... Even I add a compatible second audio track in most of the movies that i have, i can't change it because the settings for change the audio IN the player because is only available when you open the player and play the movie, and not before playing. For me this is a mistake, leaving the settings to change the audio when you start to play makes impossible change the audio (well the app can't do that, or the server). To avoid this, my humble suggestion is that the movie settings can be available before play the movie (In the WebUI/server it can be done in that way) but int the APP doesn't. So.. later in night when i turn my receiver off i just have dts compatibility or ac3 5.1 because the TV specs. I try to watch one movie and is impossible. I need to turn on my receiver, start and play the movie, change the audio for the secondary track, turn off the receiver, and after that i have the other track available to play, and it works. That's the only way. I send the log when this happend from the APP, here i leave the server log. Thanks in advance. log trasnscode fail.txt Edited May 23, 2018 by HRSCR
ebr 16177 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Why do you say it is impossible to change the audio after playback starts? There is a menu to do this and it will remember your last selection on subsequent playback. I send the log when this happend from the APP, here i leave the server log. Can you please provide the information requested? Thanks. Then add the following information to your report in the forum: Exactly what you were doing and what happened. Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem The time you sent the log The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time
ebr 16177 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 The reason your playback is not working in that transcode session is because you have PGS subs selected which, once you need to convert the audio, must be burned into the video by the server and the server is simply not capable of doing that fast enough. Consider obtaining external SRT subs for the item and this will be rectified.

There is a menu to do this and it will remember your last selection on subsequent playback. Can you please provide the information requested? Thanks. It is impossible because when the movie start you choose that menu that you say to change the audio track and the APP doesn't respond to the command, it keeps thinking and transcoding it never stops in the log appears. I trying pausing tha movie, but still trying to transcoding... I send the log via APP the same day and hour of the server log that i attach here. I don't know any other way, let me know how and i do that to help more with this. The settings to change the audio needs be in the movie windows before playing. And no, sorry, that movie doen't have pgs subs in the default (it has on english how secondary subs that i use if i need only), all my subtitles are in spanish by default and in the log that i published here you can see that. Here is the mediainfo of that movie, is the same of the log, you can see taht into the MKV container. The spanish.srt is the default. --- I don't want transcode anything, direct play is what i use. The app don't allow me to change the track when start playing. I'm clear, or i'm not explain myself properly? Sorry if I'm not clear enought. APP issues, some server misconfig? The direct stream works wonderful
