3.4 very slow to load movies when collections enabled (Web UI)

Hi again.

I am sorry for all the questions recently. I really love Emby :) and don't want to come across as a complainer since I am a new user.

I know it may appear that way with all my posts lately. Sorry. I'm not complaining, I'm just asking.  B)

That said...

I have noticed a massive change from 3.3 to 3.4.X (Linux Ubuntu server distro - both 3.4 and 3.4.1) in the time it takes to load my movies library when I have collections enabled.

In 3.3, it would take a few seconds or more to load (and that was with movies.js changed to show 1000 items at once).

In 3.4.X, it is taking 20++ seconds to load the default of 100. It is nearly instant in 3.4.X without collections and the default 100 items.

Something is really off here.

The relevant lines from my log seems to be:

3.4.1 - Collections on - 100 items:

2018-05-12 21:54:14.561 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to 192.168.0.151. Time: 22142ms (slow). http://192.168.0.11:8096/emby/Users/d16021af647d4fc9b1f38e5a1789c83c/Items?SortBy=SortName&SortOrder=Ascending&IncludeItemTypes=Movie&Recursive=true&Fields=PrimaryImageAspectRatio%2CMediaSourceCount%2CBasicSyncInfo&ImageTypeLimit=1&EnableImageTypes=Primary%2CBackdrop%2CBanner%2CThumb&StartIndex=0&Limit=100&ParentId=f137a2dd21bbc1b99aa5c0f6bf02a805

3.4.1 - Collections off - 100 items:

2018-05-12 22:06:15.365 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to 192.168.0.151. Time: 193ms. http://192.168.0.11:8096/emby/Users/d16021af647d4fc9b1f38e5a1789c83c/Items?SortBy=SortName&SortOrder=Ascending&IncludeItemTypes=Movie&Recursive=true&Fields=PrimaryImageAspectRatio%2CMediaSourceCount%2CBasicSyncInfo&ImageTypeLimit=1&EnableImageTypes=Primary%2CBackdrop%2CBanner%2CThumb&StartIndex=0&Limit=100&ParentId=f137a2dd21bbc1b99aa5c0f6bf02a805

MASSIVE difference in the same build.

I can revert and compare 3.3 if necessary, but 3.3 didn't take anywhere near this time to load 10 times as many results.

I can post full logs if needed of course.

Anyone else experience this change in loading speed?

Thanks

Also experiencing this issue on FreeBSD, disabled the "group movies into collections" option for now helped to regain faster load times on the movies but would love to see the grouped option fixed!
Maybe something to do with the per user collections introduced in 3.4?

I've experienced the same thing (after rebuilding my database from scratch ... because it got corrupted and crashed emby on library scans).

And honestly, even doing the above doesn't help.  It gets to the point (after time) where things just stop showing up.

3.4 has been a huge CF, and I've reverted back to 3.3.

In fact, the last couple of major versions have been mugh pains, to the point that Plex is looking a LOT mos stable and useful....

And LDAP support finally, just in time to switch, too...

We are working on resolving this, thanks.

Glad to hear it, and hopefully, you'll have the fix out sooner rather than later, because Emby is the better option.

Any news on this fix?

On one system I tested where I stored the library.db on ramdisk, I didn't have any issue, but on another system where the library.db file was stored on traditional disk, the movie folders were unuseable when collections were enabled.  Is the performance issue noted here mitigated by speeding up access to the library.do?

We're looking into it for the next release. Thanks.
