Best Transcoding Settings?

transcoding settings are over my head so i'm looking for a little help re the best numbers i should use.... my setup:

 

> emby server 3.4.0.0

> emby web client

> chrome

> main pc, windows 10, connected to lan (hardwired), no emby server, external usb drive connected to pc containing movies, this drive is shared.

> htpc, windows 10, connected to lan (hardwired), emby server installed, pull movies from the shared usb drive connected to main pc.

> i'll rarely, if ever, stream movies from a remote location via the web, but like having this option.

> i may add a couple of more htpc to the network.

 

so what should the settings look like in "server > transcoding" for the best performance?

thanks very much luke, just wanted to make sure if there might be optimal settings in this section for those using the web client, but i'll just leave them at their default settings.
