revengineer 142 Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 Attached is a complete log from the latest bets 3.4.1.2. The TV folder structure is "F:\Recorded TV\Series\Notruf Hafenkante (2007)\Season 9\Notruf Hafenkante S09E21 Paulines Fall.ts". The TV folder is set to ""F:\Recorded TV". Scan tries to identify https://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=Series&language=de but does not succeed because "Series" is the parent folder and not an actually series. It never parses the subdirectory "Notruf Hafenkante (2007)" which contains the Season folder with the show. Log (7).txt
Guest asrequested Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Default recording location under DVR settings is set to "M:\Recorded TV". Not sure how the "Series" and "Movies" subfolders are controlled. You can specify their paths
revengineer 142 Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 @ Thank you, I am giving this a try. I always assumed that if left empty, no subpath would be used. @@Luke If you could take a look at my above reports that would be great. I still think there is an issue with parsing the directory structure recursively when gathering metadata. This should be easy to reproduce given the report.
revengineer 142 Posted May 12, 2018 Author Posted May 12, 2018 @ @@Luke Despite now explicitly setting the series recordings folder to "M:\Recorded TV", the shows are still being recorded in "M:\Recorded TV\Series". So I really need the devs to look at this and comment whether I am overlooking something or whether this is a bug. Thank you in advance.
Guest asrequested Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Are you setting your tv shows directory inside the default recording directory? If yes, don't do that. Have them not be nested. Create separate folders. If you look at the pic I posted, mine are on the same drive, but separate directories.

Guest asrequested Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 I set default, movies, and series recording paths all to "M:\Recorded TV". Are you saying this is no good? If you do that, it's the same as just using the default location. It will create sub folders. Have them be their own folder. M:/Recorded movies M:/Recorded shows M:/Recordings That last one will be default, so sports and other things will be recorded, there.

This leaves the recursive metadata downloading as the remaining issue. Waiting for @@Luke to comment.

drakus72 17 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I think you need to add an option for naming format so the user can do their own naming convention instead of using what is forced. I personally hate the year in the folder unless it is a movie. Now I have to manually merge all folders with/without the year so I do not have duplicates. How about adding an option for our own naming, this way the users can name it how they want and now how it is forced on us, or give us an option to use year or not.
Erik 124 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 IMO, I appreciate the year as a bunch of TV shows lately (recorded OTA) that have been brought back are identified incorrectly due to the exact same name and I had to go in and re-identify them all. With the year it's all automatic.
cybergrimes 93 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Are the dupes being merged only happening after the server update? If so I would think it's a one time fix. Year was added for metadata matching, without the year a lot of DVR shows would match incorrectly on TheTVDB. It's a lot harder for it to mismatch with year included... Personally I found DVR kind of a chore without it and probably wouldnt have stayed on Emby due to the rate of mismatched series. Edited May 14, 2018 by cybergrimes
Erik 124 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 (edited) Yes, Luke said it's a one time thing as the new recordings will create a folder with a year so the old one will also remain. After a week or so all my scheduled recording made new folders and I manually merged them and it's been back to normal since then. Edited May 14, 2018 by Erik
mbnwa 49 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 After the latest server update recorded tv folders seem to be randomly duplicating for example Blacklist generates a 2nd Blacklist folder with the same content. dranderson402 31 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I also noticed the new recording folders with the year added since the update. So I took the liberty of changing the remaining folders to also include the year for future recordings only to discover that not all of my recordings create folders with the year. For example, I changed the folder for NCIS to NCIS (2003) only to find the next recording create a new folder named NCIS. So are all recordings supposed to create a folder with the year?
cybergrimes 93 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 (edited) @@dranderson402 Schedules Direct includes a Zap2It ID with the guide data. This same ID is stored on TheTVDB (they actually call it Schedules Direct ID) which allows it to get an exact match & add the year to the folder name as opposed to the old method which tried to match on name only. I can only guess why it happened but maybe Emby had a problem contacting TheTVDB at the time it finished recording. Is TheTVDB your 1st metadata downloader for recorded shows? I also record NCIS but did not have a separate folder created on the 5/15 episode. Edited May 18, 2018 by cybergrimes

cybergrimes 93 Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 (edited) His post indicates this is a new folder created after updating to 3.4, he manually renamed the old series folder to include the year trying to avoid dupe folders but he got one anyway when it created a new folder without the year Edited May 18, 2018 by cybergrimes
