I try to update my server. I click on the update button on my dashboard, the update is dowloaded, he ask me to reboot the server and when he's rebooted I'm still in 3.3.1.0 version asking me to update to 3.4.0.0.

I'm not using emby as a service.

Can you help me?

Try shutting down emby server, then copy the new portable version on top of your existing installation.

and erase the files? I will not lose my config?

on top of your existing installation.

This way nothing will be lost.

I'm seeing the same thing. This seems to be the path forward sometimes so I'll do this when I get a chance. I read the change log and there's quite a lot of changes this time around. Thanks for the hard work!

I finally had a chance to do this. I am working remotely via RDP session. I went to task manager and killed the emby server process and tried to install emby from a download from your site (where it says Win7 needs all updates, which I'm reluctant to do due to issues updates have caused with concurrent RDP sessions and other things such as forcing GWX on everyone) When I tried to install it I got the following error:

5aebb6e9c0095_EmbyIntallationError.jpg

I then fired up the old server and shut it down from within the Server Dashboard and tried again. I got the same error. I fired up the server again and got a notification that the MBServer 3.4.0.0 completed but upon restarting the server again, it did not install.

I guess a reboot is in order but I really don't like doing that if I don't have to. What might be the hangup here?

Try rebooting your machine. Something must have a lock on the folder.

I got this also, something is Windows is hold the system folder open and the install process is unable to rename.  It is a timing issue you just have to wait on.

A reboot will have to wait until I'm home to do it..

Has happened to me a number of time.  Something locks the emby folder.  A reboot always fixes it.

It took a reboot and a kick in the crotch but I'm up and running now.
