invertedknife 13 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 I have a Netgear R6700v2 router. It very frequently freezes when i have emby running. i have confirmed that the freezes only occur when emby is running. The only way to fix the freeze is to manually reboot the router. Can you please look into if emby is the issue? i have attached 2 logs where my router froze while emby was running. 63660632265.txt 63660632641.txt
Luke 42085 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Hi, for starters I would suggest removing all Emby plugins, then let's go from there. Thanks.
Luke 42085 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 I would also make sure your router firmware is up to date.

Luke 42085 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 And then you may also want to try turning off the automatic port mapping feature.
invertedknife 13 Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 And then you may also want to try turning off the automatic port mapping feature. The firmware is up to date. turned off port mapping in emby side. also turned of dlna. never use it so might as well. let's see. will update.
Luke 42085 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 If turning off the port mapper helps, then it's possible the netgear's upnp features are a little buggy and causing a problem on the device. It's also possible there is something wrong with your router hardware - I'm sure you're going to challenge that with a rebuttal, but remember that different things use it in different ways, and it's possible that the functions Emby uses are where the problem lies.

It was odd that it only freezes when emby is on, so figured i might ask. There are times when it freezes so i shut down emby and restart the router. it will work fine, until i restart emby and then then the router crashes instantly. But i get your point. Thanks for your help.
arche 177 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) I bought this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/Linksys-WRT3200ACM-AC3200-Wifi-Router-Certified-Refurbished/302616879262?epid=4013789631&hash=item46755f209e:g:A4cAAOSwLgNaa3By They also have this same refurb on amazon also. Installed DD-WRT on it (Cause of the 5GHz issue I was having with the stock firmware), seems to be working well with DD-WRT. Was also having an issue with an older router with upnp, but not because of Emby. Just a suggestion. Edited April 30, 2018 by arche
