chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Tried streaming 4K video on Intel I7 16GB RAM, 4 core box and Emby pegged all CPUs at 100% and was not really working well. What is expected behavior?
ebr 16176 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Hi. Were you running the beta of the server on Android? Please provide more specifics about exactly what you did. Transcoding HEVC is extremely CPU intensive. How to Report a Problem
chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 I run emby as I said on Intel I7 16GB RAM, 4 core box ubuntu 16.04 And did not modify any transcoding settings, pls see here https://snag.gy/OuZtnU.jpg
CBers 7450 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Which Emby client are you using, as you have posted in the Android Server forum ??
chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 my apologies I will repost, pls disregard

chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Did you forget to attach log files? I have to tell you attaching here is a challenge !
Luke 42078 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 If you click the link Ebr provided you with, it has instructions on how to attach files.

Luke 42078 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 What platform / OS are you running on? What CPU do you have?

Luke 42078 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Hevc transcoding via CPU is very expensive as others have said. These kinds of results are not surprising. What kind of GPU do you have? You might have some options there to enable hardware transcoding features.
chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U Integrated Graphics Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 45 Memory at a9000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Memory at b0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) I/O ports at 3000 [virtual] Expansion ROM at 000c0000 [disabled] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915 How do you recommend change settings ?
Luke 42078 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 First thing to do would be to find out if your GPU supports Intel QuickSync with HEVC.
Jdiesel 1431 Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) Which CPU model do you have specifically? Looks like it might be a Broadwell-U, perhaps a i7-5600U, which is a 5th generation mobile CPU and not overly powerful. Edited April 27, 2018 by Jdiesel
chudak 24 Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Well played with and without h/w Hardware acceleration and emby server simply won't stream. Plex, on the other hand, streams same video on the same h/w video etc !

Plex, on the other hand, streams same video on the same h/w video etc ! Could it be that Plex server is transcoding the video content and not actually delivering 4K content? I can play 4K (265) content fine with nvidia GT 1030 which supports hardware acceleration of 265content (running Windows 10 for emby server and emby theatre) Edited April 28, 2018 by PrincessClevage
