ddurdle 75 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Is there a way to disable scanning on a particular library folder? I have a lot of files in one folder that are not movies or tv shows, but I see from Emby logs records of it scanning that folder. I tried creating the folder as mixed content with none of the checkboxed checked in the folder settings. I also tried creating it as a Home Videos and Photos with no checkboxes checked in the folder settings. But I still see scanning running for upwards of over half-a-day trying to scan this folder. 2018-04-24 10:32:09.470 Debug App: Running FFProbeProvider for /u01/shared/edu.online22/video-other/026 - El as de cristal - original 480p.strm2018-04-24 10:32:09.627 Debug App: Running MovieNfoProvider for /u01/shared/edu.online22/video-other/026 - El as de cristal - original 480p.strm2018-04-24 10:32:09.627 Debug App: MovieNfoProvider returned no metadata for /u01/shared/edu.online22/video-other/026 - El as de cristal - original 480p.strm2018-04-24 10:32:09.627 Debug App: Running MovieDbProvider for /u01/shared/edu.online22/video-other/026 - El as de cristal - original 480p.strm2018-04-24 10:32:09.628 Info App: MovieDbProvider: Finding id for item: 026 - El as de cristal - original Is this normal?
FrostByte 5392 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) Add a file with name ".ignore" in the folder, but then it would no longer be in Emby Edited April 24, 2018 by FrostByte
ddurdle 75 Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 I do want it to show up for playback, but I want don't want it scraped because it is unscrapable. I thought Home Videos would be considered not scrapable. Further, there is no checkboxes for enabling scraping with any of the content providers. I wonder if I supply a dummy NFO for each video, if it will then stop scraping it? Or will the .ignore add the videos to Emby but simply not scrape the folder?
ebr 16187 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Any media you wish to play needs to be probed so, yes, that is normal. As for the Movie provider, are you sure you disabled the options you think you did?
ddurdle 75 Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 Maybe it is a bug then, so maybe I'll need to open a bug request
ebr 16187 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 No metadata fetching options even showing there. Is it a home videos library now?
ddurdle 75 Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 No metadata fetching options even showing there. Is it a home videos library now? Yes, that is right. I tried creating it as mixed content and nothing checked and it was trying to scan with MovieNfoProvider. So I dropped the library folder and recreated it with "Home video & photos", and it is still scanning the files with MovieNfoProvider.
Luke 42083 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 That's nothing to worry about. All videos support nfo. The files don't exist so no time will be spent reading them. Try disabling debug logging and then you'll likely be happier.

Luke 42083 Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 That's probably from before he changed it to a home video library
ddurdle 75 Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 That's probably from before he changed it to a home video library No, the log is from recent, after changing it to "home videos & photos". I had to delete the library folder, because as you know, you can't change the type. But perhaps something was lingering identifying this library folder as mixed content still, since I recreated it with the same name. I'll do another test by deleting the folder, creating a new library folder of a different name, with a different path but same files, and see the scanning still happens. And I'll post the full log.
