Matrix1234 0 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I am new to Emby from Plex. I was really tired of the poor performance and numerous bugs ruining my library. Anyway, so far I like everything about Emby, server, media recognition and responsiveness. The only issue I have is with the browser playback, specifically Chrome, but the issue happens in Firefox as well. Standard playback controls work like pause/play with spacebar, fullscreen with F and skip ahead/back with shift+arrow keys. The audio control does not work, I tried up/down arrows with and without shift, the ones that I found on the web F9/F10 and nothing works to control the audio level with a keyboard. It does work if I control the slider with the mouse, and as long as the audio adjustment indicator is overlayed on the video the up/down arrows work to adjust the audio. But as soon as it disappears the controls no longer work. I am not sure if I am missing something or using it wrong. Any tips or advise? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Hi, I think you're probably referring to these: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Keyboard%20and%20Remote%20Support They currently don't apply to the built in web app, although it's possible for the future. They do work with the Emby Theater web app at http://tv.emby.media Thanks.

Luke 42077 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 Does your keyboard have any volume buttons?

Luke 42077 Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 OK in the web app we used to do this but removed it due to complaints over interfering with default browser functions. So currently you need to have a keyboard that has dedicated buttons. I'm surprised yours doesn't as most do nowadays, either dedicated or tied to a function key.

I use small handheld keyboard. Only has basic buttons.

Generally dedicated volume buttons on keyboards affect the system volume. Is that the intention here? Or are you saying the web app would intercept the attempt at volume control, so it would happen in the player and not the system as usual? P.S. It should probably be removed from the keyboard shortcuts page if it is in fact no longer a shortcut that works. 1 1
Luke 42077 Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Yes the unused ones should be removed. Thanks. 1
