Kodi for Emby - Display empty library

I added a path to save my live TV recordings in the server and it adds an empty "TV show library" besides the one with all of my shows.

Look at the screenshot for clarification

Hi, this is normal. Are you not wanting that?

I only have one "TV show" library but it displays 2 after adding the path to record live tv, one with my TV shows and the other one is empty.

The screenshot only shows the empty one, the other one is all the way to the left and doesn't show in the screenshot

Ok maybe the add-on needs to filter this out. Can you go into the add-on settings > advanced > set log level to debug. Turn off Kodi, then turn it back on. Wait until you get the welcome message then post your Kodi log.

It says that it is a tv-show.

Have you tried merging the library with your regular tv shows?

@@Luke what is supposed to display within this new library?

Yes I tried merging, but did nothing, I also tried setting a path for series and movies and left the default recording empty (screenshot attached), and I just made it worse because now I have 3 empty libraries instead of one, I set it back and the 3 empty libraries remain.

Launch Emby for Kodi > refresh library and video nodes. Does that make the 3 empty libraries disappear?

FYI

<expression name="MenuEmby0Visiblity">[System.HasAddon(plugin.video.emby) + [String.IsEqual(Window(home).Property(emby.nodes.0.type),movies) | String.IsEqual(Window(home).Property(emby.nodes.0.type),tvshows) | String.IsEqual(Window(home).Property(emby.nodes.0.type),homevideos)]]</expression>

I only show nodes based on the content types movies, tvshows and homevideos.

@@abescalamis

If refreshing doesn't help, please check if they also appear if you use EmbyCon.

(You can install it next to Emby For Kodi for testing without dropping your current configuration)

It didn't work, but I was able to fix it, I had to reset the database, the cause of this issue is when kodi is being used and the path is enter, but if is done when kodi is off, there is no issue.

I also deleted the emby for kodi addon, and deleted the left overs inside kodi but it didn't work, that told me that the issue was not in the addon but the database itself.

I am still confused as to the original purpose of those library created by Emby...

The option was added to give the ability to specify where the users want save recorded programs/shows/movies from live TV.

There is two different options.

1) add a default recording path:

5ad3adbd6829e_Screenshot_20180412185538_

This will create only one extra library named "Recordings" and everything you record from live TV goes to that folder.

2) add a default recording path for movies and series:

5ad3ae5c9810a_Screenshot_20180415125509_

This will create two libraries named "Recordings-Series" and "Recordings- Movies", this will separate your recordings depending on what you record a series/TV show or movie.

Note:

The emby clients correctly displays the libraries (Android app, web app), it will display one or two libraries depending if you enter the path as in option one or two.

Kodi will display 3 libraries if you do as in option 1) and 4 libraries if you do as in option 2).

If you use option 1), kodi creates one empty "Tv Show" library, and if you use option 2), Kodi will create two empty libraries "Tv Shows" and "Movies".

Hope that this help you find the issue.

Extra info:

1) While I was trying to fix the issue, I created a mess and end up adding bunch of empty libraries, I

2) I fixed the mess I did by reseting the database, but didn't get rid of the empty libraries reported.

3) These empty libraries don't show when navigating through the embycon nor Emby for Kodi add-on.

4) I got rid of that empty library by going to the skin settings--> edit menu. The empty library had a "Position Number 8: (emby Node)", I entered there and selected "Clear".

I'm not sure but I think the issue is related to the skin creating that node and not the addons.

I resolved the problem by doing the above, I only wanted to report the details.

No the library also exists in Emby for Kodi as that's what the skin sees communicated by the add-on.

I don't believe there's really an issue here other than I need to review how the add-on cleans up libraries. The server creates additional libraries so they are also in emby for kodi. The only reason why you saw two when one was created is because Kodi doesn't support mixed content library. It is normal behavior to create the two libraries, one for shows and one for movies.
