Recommended Server Specs

I've just installed and set up MB Server.  Loving the ease of setup and the new interface.  The issue I'm having is watching movies on remote devices.  Playback is very choppy and inconsistent.  I suspect it has something to do with my server machine as it's a few years old.  I was wondering if there was a list of recommended specs for the server machine and if there are any tweaks I can use to improve playback performance.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated so the wife will let me out of the dog house. :)

I'm guessing you are talking about other devices than MBC and MBT ? since both of them are able to play the item's directly from the network share without any transcoding.

And as for mobile devices try lowering the settings, that's what i can think of  for now - my machine which is more than a few years old can handle the mobile thing without too much of a hassle. :)

My cpu is an Intel Xeon 5120 so nothing fancy here :P

What's your current setup and what device are you playing to?

Windows 7 Ultimate

Intel Pentium 4 3.20 GHz

2GB RAM

Network is wireless-N

Main issue is on another computer hooked up in my bedroom using MBC.  It's an older Dell OptiPlex that worked fine running MB locally.  It just doesn't seem to like playing it from the server.

As said above, it should be playing through the network share so choppy playback might suggest that its a network issue i.e.wireless performance. Could you try using a wired connection and see if that helps?
