Anyway to stop subtitles from being turned on by default?

Hi, what you can do is open your Emby web app, then click the user icon in the top right, then click subtitle settings.

 

On the subtitle settings screen you can configure the subtitle mode, and it sounds like you'll want to set this to "No subtitles". Once you've done this, restart the android tv app and it should incorporate the preference.
